Positive Pay/Account Reconciliation

As Corporate Account Takeover fraud continues to be on the rise, running a business can be a worrisome task. With Account Reconciliation/Positive Pay (ARP), BrandBank eases some of the worry. Through a daily reconcilement process of comparing in-clearing check items to the issued items of the business, potential fraud items (exceptions) are identified before being paid.

By enabling Account Reconciliation/Positive Pay for your business, the service:

  • Provides fraud protection by automatically detecting exceptions.
  • Empowers you to make quick online decisions regarding exception items.
  • Provides check imaging for exception item decision making.
  • Allows you to view the current status of issued items
  • Gives the ability to easily upload or input issued checks into your online register.

Through a series of simple steps using Brand Cash Management (BCM), you may realize the benefits of ARP

  1. An electronic list of checks is entered into the BCM system daily, or as frequent as checks are issued. The issue file for the business is warehoused on the bank's data system. As checks are issued and loaded into the BCM system the information is sent to the data file of the business.
  2. Daily, the issued file is reconciled with the in-clearing items presented for that day. If the items match, the checks are paid. If an item does not match any of the issues in the file, the item becomes a Positive Pay Exception. When an exception is identified, the business customer is notified by email. The customer logs in to the BCM service to decide whether to pay or return the item. After the decision has been made, the information is sent back to the bank by email for action. The business customer must login and select their payment decision by 12:00 Noon on any day an exception is found, or the item(s) will be returned unpaid.
